January Product Updates: See what’s new in DrChrono
Posted On January 29, 2019
Last year we brought some major updates to finish 2018 with a bang. This year in 2019 we anticipate even bigger updates so we are starting off the year running! In this product newsletter you’ll find some mobile features that further enhance your experience with DrChrono EHR for iOS and more.
Here’s what’s included in this month’s product update:
ONC Certification – Our EHR is 2015 CEHRT and ready for MU3/PI this year.
Inline Workflow – A new charting style for mobile EHR charters to chart even faster.
Communication Logs now on iOS – Gain visibility on your records with your patients, and use it as a hub for easy reporting.
DrChrono is ONC Certified
As of January 1st, 2019, eligible providers had become required to be on a ONC certified EHR, which means that the EHR is 2015 CEHRT certified, and is MU3/MIPS 2019 ready, which is what they are calling “Promoting Interoperability (PI)” this year. We wanted to announce in this newsletter that we are officially ONC certified and that DrChrono providers can continue to practice on DrChrono EHR without worrying about regulatory hurdles for this year.
There were many moving parts that had to be aligned for this to happen successfully, so we are proud to be certified and excited to implement the last of the updates into our product over the next couple months. There will be new reportable CQMs and other small updates that will be covered in the future product newsletters, so stay tuned!
Inline Workflow – New charting style on iOS
We’ve put a lot of focus on our mobile EHR, making sure it is intuitive to use and helps streamline day to day operations. One thing we’ve noticed is that drop downs can be useful to organize lists on web, but take additional taps and may slow the charting experience for our providers. With this in mind we’ve come up with a new charting style we call “Inline Workflow.” Simply turn on the Inline Workflow by tapping the gear icon on the top right of a patient chart and enabling the line item “Inline Workflow.”
Instead of tapping into drop down menus for single select or multiple select fields, you will be able to see all available options from those fields, and you will be able to just tab through and select what you need, without going in and out of drop down menus. In order to view all of the menu items reasonable, we’ve changed the chart view from a two column to a single column view. There will be a small badge in the top right of each section to show you whether the field is single select or multiple select.
This feature is just an option, and you can always stick with the original charting style if you prefer. Try out this new feature and let us know if you have noticed any improvements on charting time!
Communication Logs brought to iOS
We actually have communication logs on web already, and now we have a mobile version with a couple other cool features besides keeping a log of all patient communications.. You can find this new feature in the Patient Menu on iOS, under “Communication Log,” and it will be the third tab on the pop up.
Just like the web version, you will be able to log and track all communications with the patients, whether they were phone calls, text reminders or anything else involving the patient. In addition, you will be able to assign a task to a specific record for staff to follow up on, and you will also notice that some of the records are interactive.
For example, if you select a message, the app will take you to the message center where you will be able to view the message. This new feature should be able to give you quick at a glance insight on your relationship with your patient, and the export and printing features can make it easier for reporting as well.
