Dear Dr. R. Juliet,

I recently had a spike in patients reporting heartache. I promptly referred them all to a local cardiologist for workups (in most cases EKG’s and stress tests).  Thankfully, 100 % of these patients have returned with normal test results.

Though, one question remains, what’s with all the heartache? I have scoured journals and publications to see if there is a reason behind this recent trend and haven’t come across anything out of the ordinary.

Concerned, Dr. William S.

Dear Dr. William S.,

This is absolutely normal…we call it Valentine’s Day.  The holiday leads to individuals longing for unrealistic scenarios, sadness over past loves or general gloom over current ones. My advice is to continue to keep tabs on your patients via the Apple Healthkit integration with OnPatient; your patients can share their wellness data with you in an easy-to-digest format. This way, you can see that their only pain is the result of love, not a myocardial infarction.

Optimistic, Dr. R. Juliet
